Mecca Productions wraps up their 2023/24 Season with RENT June 13-15 at the Beautiful WMCA. Jonathon Larson's rock musical is a story for our time and for all time, encouraging us all to use our voice to speak for justice, to find hope and joy in the face of uncertainty and measure your life in the only thing that truly matters: love.

Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "Rent" has become a cultural phenomenon, with a story that still resonates as strongly with audiences today as it did over 25 years ago, when its Broadway debut introduced the world to a knew kind of musical - one that was modern real and raw

Rent had is world premiere Off-Broadway on February 23, 1996, at New York Theatre Workshop. It moved to Broadway the same year and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama for Outstanding Book of a Musical, Outstanding Music, and Outstanding Lyrics; and many others. The production ran for 12 consecutive years, becoming one of the longest-running shows on Broadway.

The time is right for our region's most talented adult performers to bring this story to life and to bring its message to the hearts of audiences."
